Dome of Light – O5R10 KMRT Formosa Boulevard Station (Distance from the venue: 3.3km)

The transfer station between the Red and Orange Lines, the Station is a work of art both inside and out, the 4 station platform structures made of sheets of glass covering steel platforms represent “praying for longevity”, in order to commemorate the Formosa Incident which happened here. The “Dome of Light”, was completed by the Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata over 4 and a half years. Made of glass, colored paint and lights, it represents the birth, growth, glory and dimming of the cosmos and was named the second most beautiful subway station in the world by the American travel website BootsnAll.

    Chengcing Lake is the largest lake in Kaohsiung’s suburbs, and has won the accolade of “Taiwan’s Xi Lake” for its beauty. The eastern shore of Chengcing Lake maintains a bird refuge. At Ocean World, you can see many unusual creatures from the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, earning it an accolade as a world famous tourist attraction.

    Bridge of Nine Turns(Distance from the venue: 8.7km)

    The Bridge of Nine Turns on Chengching Lake was named because of the number of its turns. This bridge is an excellent spot among tourists who wish to admire the picturesque lake, and it also looks very poetic from a distance.

    Siziwan (The Sizih Bay)(Distance from the venue: 7.6km)

    Siziwan is known for its beautiful sunset and natural reefs, and the area includes scenic spots like the Siziwan Beach, Seaside Park, and the former British Consulate at Takao. You can enjoy the view of the sea, or gaze over Kaohsiung Port. The inscription on the gate of the Shaochuan artillery position, currently classes as a third-grade national heritage site reads “Kaohsiung Town North Gate”. It was built at the same time as Cihou (Qihou) Fort, to cover different fields of fire. Today, the cannons are gone- only 3 gun emplacements remain for people of the future to wonder about.

    Heart of the love river (Ruyi Lake)(Distance from the venue: 5.4km)

    Located at the junction of Boai 1st Road and Tongmeng 1st Road, in the upper reaches of the Love River between East Lake and West Lake. In between these lakes, there is a heart-shaped bridge. The beautiful bike routes and beautiful lakeside landscape here have become a quality leisure space for all in Kaohsiung. At night, the magnificent lights look like a diamond necklace, sparkling in the night.

    Pier-2 Art Center(Distance from the venue: 3.3km)

    "Pier-2" is located next to the Yencheng Tourist Wharf. The warehouses on the pier were built during the middle of the Japanese Colonial era. Converted out of these old warehouses, Pier-2 Art Center is dedicated to modern art exhibitions. An artistic and cultural space welcomes installations from the public. A number of art groups meet here and strive to develop the Kaohsiung artistic environment. The Moonlight Theater was built for a variety of artistic performances.

    Former British Consulate at Dagou(Distance from the venue: 6km)

    Built in 1865 during the Ching Dynasty, The Former British Consulate is located on a small hilltop overlooking Hsizuhwan Bay. It was the first consulate and Western style house built by the British in Taiwan. The beautiful terrace gives it a very British appearance. Inside features a display of precious historical artifacts. The former consulate is therefore another Museum of History. Outside, the view of Hsizuhwan Bay can be seen on one side, while the other looks out over the Kaohsiung Port. Recently leisure and dining areas have been added, visitors can now enjoy a meal or a pot of tea within the building. A new vitality has been given to the building, making it one of the most popular attractions in Kaohsiung.

    Tianliao Moon World(Distance from the venue: 45km)

    The Tianliao Moon World is the most developed badland and mud volcano areas in Taiwan, and its unique geography is known as “badlands” in geography, and is filled with a desolate, barren beauty. From Tianliao to Cishan (Qishan) along the Provincial Highway No. 28 which pass through the area and over 20 mud volcanoes, and eruptions can often be seen, for which Dagunshui and Xiaogunshui volcanoes are most famous. The Mudstone Geography Center, situated at the Scenic Area's entrance, features explanations of the nature of mudstone and illustrated explanations- it might be called the key to a deep understanding of the Tianliao Moon World.
